Question:

My machine seems to spark when I plug it in.  Does it need to be replaced?

Answer:

The spark is normal, and happens on all devices.  Sometimes the spark is visible, sometimes not.

This event is not a warranty issue, is normal on all high power devices, and does not constitute a reason for return or adapter replacement.

Rife Digital has an ARC Suppression and voltage protection built into this device.

This type of arcing happens; to some extent, in every electrical appliance that connects and disconnects an electrical circuit.

Devices that consistently see larger than normal arcing, typically employ some form of arc suppression or protection.

For example, circuit breakers commonly have some form of arc suppression, or protection.

This spark is normal. The type of power supply on V2 or V3 is a switched-mode power supply. With this type of device there is often an “inrush current” that appears as a spark when the prongs of the plug first hit the receptacle contacts (spark usually appears in mid/higher end adapters where an protection capacitor is used to keep interference down, it is the protection capacitor that initiates the inrush current and causes the spark).

This event is not considered a warranty fault. This constantly occurs on all high end Laptops which use +19.5v DC

This event is not repairable or replaceable as this is an inherent electrical physics law in play

If the spark is visually concerning to the client then follow these instructions.

(1) Turn off power at the wall power socket

(2) Plug in the machine wires and Cables, and Connect power adapter to the wall voltage plug

(4) Now turn on the power at the wall socket

(3) Now turn on the machine with the ON button

Following the above method will ensure that 19.5 live volts are not inserted into the device socket causing the spark, which is a normal phenomenon
