Question: What are the symptoms of tapeworms in the body? Answer: Tapeworms reside in the intestinal tract and attach themselves to the intestinal wall.  This can cause inflammation and irritation.  Symptoms include live worms in your stool, weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, weight loss, diarrhea and a loss of appetite.  Also, you may see tapeworm segments in your stool as well.  The larvae that have left the intestinal tract and have found their way into other organs and tissue may include neurological symptoms, allergic reaction to the larvae, seizures, fever, and cystic masses and or lumps. Tapeworms can live up to 20 years and can grow up to 50 feet in length.
