Straps will corrode for the reasons below:
If the client is using conductive gel or any water on the skin, the electrolysis of positive and ground can accelerate corrosion of even stainless steel.
Advise clients to clean any discoloration on the button using dishwashing liquid and the green kitchen scourer.
The Problem is caused by electrolysis: Positive + Negative charge + moisture Note that only “1” electrode corrodes, not both, unless you physically swap the wrist-straps around, then the corrosion will occur only ever on one strap. The side which corrodes is the positive, which is the point where the elecrolysis process is occurring.
This happens with people who sweat (water + electrolytes (sweat + Sodium/Potassium salts). The problem is also the Stainless Steel. The higher quality Stainless Steel take longer to corrode, however electrolysis will occur eventually on the best Stainless Steel. This might take 3-6 months to happen.
