Question:
Is there any concern with the machine about power surges or low power?
I have a client who lives out at the end of the power line and sometimes experiences one of these problems.
Should they be using a surge protector – or is there protection in the device for that already?

Answers: The adapters are designed for Medical purposes and have AC isolation.  This basically means that the DC part of the unit is totally isolated from the AC which makes the device safe for Medical purposes.  All medical equipment in hospitals such as AC powered ECG machines are based on the same AC Isolation system. The second part of the Isolation phase is surge protection.  This is built into the adapter so that any surge will shut the adapter down.  The adapter will be disposed of after any shutdown.  We replace all adapters that have been shutdown by surge.  The shut down occurrence is rare, perhaps one in 100.  We are happy to replace any adapter which have been shut down from surge detection. Low power will shut down the power output if it drops under 90 volts.  The unit is designed for 110v, however a drop to 90v will turn the adapter off.  The adapter will switch back on automatically when it senses 90+volts input.  This is not fatal and will not affect adapter performance or output quality.
