Question:
I have a client with Mycobacterium avium compl ex.
This is not listed in the book of diseases.
Any suggestions?
Answer:
It is in the book, but the “Complex” bit isn’t there, but it is the same in any case
Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) is a group of bacteria related to tuberculosis.
The most prevalent and important group leading to pulmonary disease is the Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), which includes the Mycobacterium avium, Mycobacterium intracellulare and Mycobacterium chimaera species.
The most prevalent and important group leading to pulmonary disease is the Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), which includes the Mycobacterium avium, Mycobacterium intracellulare and Mycobacterium chimaera species.
Use the 2020 ETDFL for this Group
Mycobacterium Avium (MAC) : 0.14 7.5 30.16 67.5 96.5 275.16 434.16 527 663.71 752.7
Due to the close relationship to tuberculosis; I looked up the set on TB and it is the same set, as I expected to MAC
Tuberculosis: 0.14, 7.5, 30.16, 67.5, 96.5, 275.16, 434.16, 527, 663.71, 752.7
Its good to see the consistency of ETDFL 2020, to all disease frequency relationships.
