Question:

I am very low on iron. I spent thousands of dollars to find an iron supplement which suits me but none worked, I get constipated when I use supplements. I took IV for iron (monoferic), even that didn’t  stay in my body for more than 2 months (I don’t have anemia). My body doesn’t absorb iron? Can you tell me which group suits me? And also tell me the difference among these groups:

Iron-Deficiency Anemia vs Anemia, Iron-Deficiency vs Anemia, Megaloblastic

Answer:

Iron from food is absorbed into the bloodstream in the small intestine. An intestinal disorder, such as celiac disease, which affects the intestine’s ability to absorb nutrients from digested food, can lead to iron deficiency anemia. Even non celiac related intestinal disorders can stop Iron uptake

It appears the client is doing all the correct Iron supplementation.  Iron Absorption

In order to

increase the absorption of the Iron supplements

(1) Introduce a high Vitamin C daily dose:

Vitamin C increases the bioavailability of iron from foods by enhancing intestinal absorption of non-heme iron.

5000mg to 8000mg vitamin C per day.  Take at different intervals of the day

(2) Intestines are not functioning to maximum potential.

Probiotics play a role in the regulation of intestinal nutrient absorption

Consume Raw Yogurt after each meal (specifically Greek Yogurt without added sugar or flavors)

Megaloblastic anemia is a condition in which the bone marrow produces unusually large, structurally abnormal, immature red blood cells (megaloblasts). Bone marrow, the soft spongy material found inside certain bones, produces the main blood cells of the body-red cells, white cells, and platelets. The set is specific to Bone Marrow disorder and is less related to Iron-Deficiency Anemia
