Question:

Have you ever heard of retyne helping a person restore their vision that was lost 3+ years ago due to uveitis and cataracts or must this be used before complete vision loss?

Answer:

Near-infrared (NIR) and the red-light therapy as used in Retyne Mask, will help protect retinal cells and will improve their function by supporting mitochondrial activity and reducing inflammation in the eye, and stop the further advancement of the cataract however this type of therapy does not reverse cataracts, because a cataract is a physical clouding of the eye’s lens rather than a metabolic problem that light therapy can repair.

However it is documented that through the use of NIR technology surviving retinal cells can recover (for example after inflammation resolves or a cataract is removed), vision can partially return.   Sometimes vision loss appears “complete” but some retinal cells remain alive.

When vision loss is primarily due to cataracts—particularly those that developed as a complication of conditions like Uveitis—vision can sometimes be restored even after several years through cataract surgery, provided that the retina and optic nerve remain healthy and functional. In such cases, replacing the cloudy lens with an artificial one can allow light to reach the retina again, potentially leading to significant visual improvement if the deeper structures of the eye are still intact.

Documented reports:

One medical case report described a patient with diabetic macular edema treated using 670-nm near-infrared Eye Mask (NIR). After therapy, the patient showed improved visual acuity and resolution of retinal swelling, and the improvement remained stable during follow-up.

Another case report involving a Light Based Mask described a glaucoma patient with significant functional improvement, including increased brightness and color perception after several weeks of treatment.

It would be premature to completely dismiss Retyne Mask therapy as incapable of restoring sight, as there are instances documented in scientific reports.
