Question: He is a 7+ year old male Beagle/Yorkie mix.
Since surgery he is having trouble urinating, (doc says that is normal) so I may have to put the Healing Mat inside a 2 gallon ziploc bag to protect it from urine. There is no way to know when he will urinate, so we wait. I want to keep the healing mat clean & protected. I think the large ziploc would work. What do you think? I look forward to your response about the length of usage also.
Answer: The Healing mat will loose its conductivity if enclosed inside a plastic zip lock bag.
The Healing mat is made from conductive 3M Rubber, and is about 93% water proof, so the mat can be cleaned down with a sponge. Liquid will not penetrate the mat. However the outer rim of the mat does have a cotton seam, which is not waterproof. Although the seam is thin.
You can use the mat safely overnight for dogs, Best position is to lay the mat on the dogs bed. The dog can sleep on the mat without been disturbed by straps and wires.
